Comhairle nan Eilean Siar welcomes opinions on its work and is keen to encourage users of this site to express themselves in a clear and open manner. The primary aim of this site is to allow inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides to provide ideas and feedback to the Comhairle on an ongoing basis. To ensure that this site functions properly, all comments are pre-moderated and as a result will not appear instantly. However, the site is monitored on a daily basis and the Comhairle would aim to allow comments to appear as quickly as possible. Community Consultation on the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021
Scotland became the first country in the World to make period products free for everyone in need when the Scottish Government passed a Members Bill to legislate all local authorities to provide free period products in November 2020.

Licensed Taxi and Private Hire Car (Where fitted with Taxi Meter) Fare Structure
It is the duty of a licensing authority to set from time to time the scales for fares and other related charges for the hire of taxis, and to review these scales at intervals not exceeding 18 months, in terms of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.

Housing With Extra Care Charging Policy Consultation
The Integration Joint Board in Partnership with the Comhairle and the Hebridean Housing Partnership have developed Housing with Extra Care. This consists of individual tenancies in purpose built accommodation designed to meet the assessed care needs of adults requiring additional social care support. It combines independent housing with flexible levels of care and support.

Community Encouraged to Respond to OFGEM
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has learned that some key investment proposals for the Western Isles for the period 2023 to 2028, put forward by SSEN Distribution, have been disallowed by electricity regulator OFGEM in their draft determination of SSEN Distribution's future business plan.
