Comhairle nan Eilean Siar welcomes opinions on its work and is keen to encourage users of this site to express themselves in a clear and open manner. The primary aim of this site is to allow inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides to provide ideas and feedback to the Comhairle on an ongoing basis.  To ensure that this site functions properly, all comments are pre-moderated and as a result will not appear instantly.     Surface Dressing - South Uist

    Comhairle nan Eilean Siar would like to remind the travelling public that, weather permitting, Surface Dressing operations will be taking place on the C89 Ludag area and the A865 Askernish area in South Uist from the afternoon of Tuesday 16th May. Works are expected to last for 3 to 4 days.

    Mobile Library Service

    The Mobile Library Service supplies books to those people who are unable to use a branch library because of distance, age or disability. 

    We have 3 vehicles which serve communities in Lewis, Harris and the Uists, generally at three weekly intervals.

    A Stornoway Masterplan is being developed which aims to develop a clear vision for the physical development of Stornoway, and sets out proposals to address the key strategic challenges and opportunities facing the town. This has been identifying small, medium and large level strategies to improve the local environment and infrastructure for residents and visitors.
