Community Engagement: Consultations, Surveys and Opinions

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar welcomes opinions on its work and is keen to encourage users of this site to express themselves in a clear and open manner. The primary aim of this site is to allow inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides to provide ideas and feedback to the Comhairle on an ongoing basis.  To ensure that this site functions properly, all comments are pre-moderated and as a result will not appear instantly.     Have Your Say On Island Air Services

    An online survey has been launched to understand how islanders and visitors use the current air services with the mainland. This quick 5 minute survey hopes to identify areas of importance and give air users the chance to share their experiences and outline any changes they would like to see.

    Islanders Urged To Take Part In The Scottish Government’s Consultation On An Islands’ Bill

    The consultation asks for views on issues such as 'Islands proofing' (the concept of new legislation being scrutinised before being enacted to ensure it does not adversely affect island communities), extra powers for Island authorities, protection in law to retain the Western Isles parliamentary constituency, the possibility of a different local authority ward system to the current 3 or 4 member constituencies, and the formation of a National Islands Plan.

    Budget Consultation Meetings

    We are holding an additional meeting on Tuesday 13 January 2016 to consider the Settlement and this will be followed by further public consultation meetings which will be held throughout the Western Isles in January 2016. Further information on the consultation and the opportunity to submit views online will be made available following the Comhairle meeting on 13 January 2016.

    Development Plan Consultations

    As part of the preparation for a new Local Development Plan (LDP) to guide development and land use over the next 10-20 years, we have initially produced a Main Issues Report (MIR) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report for public consultation.
