Community Engagement: Consultations, Surveys and Opinions

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar welcomes opinions on its work and is keen to encourage users of this site to express themselves in a clear and open manner. The primary aim of this site is to allow inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides to provide ideas and feedback to the Comhairle on an ongoing basis.  To ensure that this site functions properly, all comments are pre-moderated and as a result will not appear instantly.     Sound of Barra and Sound of Harris Ferries Online Surveys

    HITRANS,  Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and Highlands and Islands Enterprise have  commissioned research to assess the case for increasing the number of sailings on the ferry services on the Sound of Harris (Berneray-Leverburgh) and the Sound of Barra (Ardmhor-Eriskay).

    General Directions for Navigation (Harbours)

    To assist in the management of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Harbours and in compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code, the Harbour Authority has reviewed its powers of Direction and now intends to introduce General Directions for Navigation    covering all harbours found within the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Various Harbours) Harbour Revision Order 2002.

    People Urged to Respond to Ferry Online Surveys

    Online surveys are being undertaken as part of research into the social and economic impacts of introducing additional sailings on the Sound of Harris (Berneray-Leverburgh) and Sound of Barra (Ardmhor-Eriskay) ferry services. The closing date for responses is Friday 18 March 2022.

    This consultation is on the draft second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2)  Summary Report, which sets out draft transport recommendations for the next 20 years. Responses will be received until midnight on Friday 15 April 2022.

    Stornoway Active Travel Masterplan

    Arup have been appointed by HITRANS (Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership) on behalf of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES) to deliver an active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) masterplan for Stornoway. The surveys close on: Friday, 18 March 2022 (5:00PM).
