Community Engagement: Consultations, Surveys and Opinions

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar welcomes opinions on its work and is keen to encourage users of this site to express themselves in a clear and open manner. The primary aim of this site is to allow inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides to provide ideas and feedback to the Comhairle on an ongoing basis.  To ensure that this site functions properly, all comments are pre-moderated and as a result will not appear instantly. However, the site is monitored on a daily basis and the Comhairle would aim to allow comments to appear as quickly as possible.   For additional information, please click on the following link: Moderation Guidelines

    Public Performance Reporting

    Councils have a duty under the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 to report publicly their performance in delivering their services. As from 2009/10 the Comhairle has been producing these snapshot reports in the format of Public Performance Calendars which have been circulated mainly through schools in the Outer Hebrides, but also though other media.

    Engagement Event on Education Bill Gaelic Provision

    An engagement event is being held for Western Isles teachers and parents regarding the Education Bill Gaelic provision on the evening of 30 November 2015.  Parents and members of the wider community are invited to attend where their issues and suggestions can be raised.

    New ePlanning Portal

    The implementation of a replacement ePlanning portal will commence on 13 January 2016.  The new portal will be called ePlanning.scot and will have new branding (Image; Scottish Government), as shown: eplanningscot

    Leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to take part in Facebook Session on Islands' Bill

    We have created a new Facebook page as part of a wider aim to further consult and engage with communities throughout the Western Isles. The Comhairle Leader, Cllr Angus Campbell, will run question and answer sessions on a range of topics over the coming months, beginning with a one hour session on the Islands' Bill on Thursday 10th December at 7pm.

    Comhairle Budget 2016-18

    We expect to hold an additional Comhairle meeting in the week of 12 January 2016 to consider the Settlement,  followed by further public consultation the following week. The dates of this are to be confirmed.
