Housing Needs Survey for Organisations
Overview
The Comhairle's Housing Services Team is preparing a Housing Need and Demand Assessment (HNDA), which will feed into the Local Housing Strategy 2023-2028 and the next iteration of the Local Development Plan. This exercise must be carried out every five years and it will allow us to consider the number of homes we are likely to need, based on what our population looks like at the moment, and what it might look like in the future. It also allows us to consider the particular needs that people in our communities might have, and how we can plan for the type of homes they are likely to require now and in the future.
There are two surveys on housing need being conducted. One is on general housing need and one is on housing need experienced by organisations.
If you are an organisation and the work you do is being impacted by the housing market in the Outer Hebrides, we would welcome a response from you to the Housing Need Survey for Organisations on this page by 5pm on Friday, 30 September 2022.
Why We Are Consulting
We are asking questions in order to find out what housing needs are throughout the Outer Hebrides. We want to ensure that any homes that are developed are in the right place, and that they are they right type and size.
What Happens Next
Any responses we receive will be reviewed, considered, and will help inform, as appropriate, the Housing Need and Demand Assessment 2023-2028, the Local housing Strategy 2023-28, and the next Local Development Plan.
The Housing Need and Demand Assessment 2023-2028 is due to be considered by the Sustainable Development Committee on 30 November 2022.
