  • Iolaire Commemoration

    The Iolaire Working Group met today, Thursday 9 March 2017, to continue consideration of plans for commemorative events in the run up the 100th anniversary of the worst Royal Navy peacetime maritime disaster. The group will be working closely with community councils, historical societies, schools and youth groups throughout the islands. The group is also in discussion with the Scottish Commemorations Panel regarding the national contribution to the commemoration events. Image © BBC.

     
  • Western Isles Development Trust

    The Western Isles Development Trust ("WIDT") has agreed to work with the Lewis & Harris and Uist & Barra sports councils to distribute the £60,000 fund donated to the WIDT by Transocean following the Transocean Winner oil rig incident near Dalbeg, Lewis last year. Image © WIDT.

     
  • Fund Raising for Cancer Research & The Lymphoma Association

    Steven's family have decided to take on the Arrochar Alps in a three peaks challenge. A beloved son, brother, husband, father to his young son, nephew, and cousin. Steven was in the prime of life when he was struck down with cancer, more specifically non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He fought hard firstly, with standard treatments and latterly through clinical trials. However after a long fight he passed away on 28th June 2016.
