  • LOCAL PEOPLE URGED TO FIGHT NUISANCE CALLS

    Western Isles Citizens Advice Service is today (11/09) launching a campaign to urge Western Isles residents to protect themselves and their loved ones from nuisance phone calls, and to fight back by reporting them.

    Research shows that Scots receive more nuisance calls than any other part of Europe, and that 9 out of 10 Scottish households received an unwanted call within a one month period. Image Hoffman-info.

     
  • High levels of shellfish toxins in East Loch Roag in Lewis

    Monitoring work undertaken on behalf of Food Standards Scotland has identified raised levels of shellfish toxins in East Loch Roag in Lewis.

    Eating shellfish such as mussels, cockles, or razor fish from these areas may pose a risk to human health and notices to warn the public and casual gatherers have been posted at various locations on the shore. Image © marlerblog.
