  • Clothing Grant

    Our Education, Sport and Children's Services Committee is recommending an increase in the family income threshold for Clothing Grant applications from £16,105 to £20,000. It is estimated that this will increase the uptake of clothing grants by 20% and help around 100 additional families with the cost of providing uniforms for their children.   • Sports Council Funding

    Our Education, Sport and Children's Services has agreed to continue funding for the two local Sports Councils through devolving £13k to the Lewis and Harris Sports Council and £8.5k to the Uist and Barra Sports Council. Image © Harris Gun Club

     
  • Update on Road Conditions

    The Western Isles are today experiencing the wintery conditions forecasted yesterday. Road conditions are changeable as frequent snow showers pass over the area. Localised disruption to travel continues to be expected throughout the day.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice which is valid from 05:00 on Friday 8th until 18:00 on Saturday 9th December 2017.
