CLLD Small Grants Scheme Using Participatory Budgeting Launched

The Outer Hebrides Community Led Local Development Local Action Group (OH CLLD LAG) is excited to announce the launch of its latest fund, a Small Grant Scheme offering sums of between £500-£2,500.

A total of £40,000 is available. It is aimed at projects which have a clear community benefit, advance inclusion, equality and diversity, and contribute to at least of the following Scottish Government priorities: helping families and services through the cost-of-living crisis; eradicating child poverty; and transforming the economy to deliver Net Zero.

In a first for the OH CLLD LAG, this fund will trial Participatory Budgeting (PB) to award funding. This means that the LAG will only check applications for eligibility and all projects found to be eligible will then proceed to a public vote. Funding will then be awarded starting with the project that received the most votes until the full budget has been allocated, making the fund truly community-led.

Currently applications are being sought which can be submitted until midday on Friday 8th September 2023. Public voting is expected to take place during October.
