Annual Surface Dressing

The Comhairle will be commencing the annual surface dressing programme of works on Tuesday 9th of May 2023 for approximately 6 to 8 weeks across the Western Isles.

Works will commence in the Lewis and Harris area for 4 weeks before operations move to Uist for 2 weeks on the 5th June , then returning to Harris. Traffic management and warning signs will be in place and the travelling public are asked to take heed of the warnings and temporary speed limits. All works are dry weather dependent and are subject to delays or cancellations.

• Cross Skigersta area Ness
• Melbost Borve area
• A857 Barvas Moor
• A858 Brue, Breasclete
• Tolstachaolais
• B8011 Uig Bends
• A857 Laxdale School
• A859 Cameron Terrace
• sections of the A859 West side of Harris
• sections of the A865 in North and South Uist

Drivers should allow additional time for travelling whilst works are in these areas to allow for expected delays.
