Coronation Celebrations in Western Isles

People of the Western Isles will have the opportunity to join in the celebrations to mark the Coronation of HM King Charles III and HM The Queen Consort with a number of various events and activities taking place throughout the Islands.

Local organisations are being encouraged to put any event or activity they are hosting on the Coronation map  .

Iain Macaulay, Lord -Lieutenant said "The King has served our country with distinction as HRH Prince of Wales for over 60 years and we take this opportunity to celebrate this historic and joyous occasion. King Charles has visited the Western Isles on a number of occasions and the Coronation Youth Shinty match for the Lord of The Isles trophy (Duais Trith nan Eilean), which he donated in 1997, is particularly special and relevant."

Comhairle Convener Kenny Macleod said "There are a range of events taking place to mark the King's Coronation and I am sure people will take the opportunity to join in the local and national celebrations. King Charles is no stranger to the Western Isles having visited many times and we wish him the very best on this historic occasion and for the future."

Volunteer Centre Western Isles Development Officer Bellann O'Brien said: "As part of the Coronation celebrations, we have been focusing on the Big Help Out theme, promoting the great volunteering work already carried out locally and encouraging new volunteers to come forward."
