Pier and Harbour Rates and Dues

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar as Harbour Authority for 32 Harbours throughout the Western Isles is empowered to levy dues under Section 26 (2) of the Harbours Act 1964 and Sections 25 -33 of the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847.  Vessels which want to use or are laid up at any of the Comhairle's Piers and Harbours are subject to paying dues.

ALL vessel owners wishing to use our facilities, including pier hard standings, MUST make a declaration to the Harbour Office in advance.  The schedule of rates and dues and online payments for 2023-2024 together with application forms to register your vessel with us can also be found on the Forms and Documents section of our website.

It should be noted that Harbour Office staff will be visiting piers and identifying non-payers.  They may then be liable to paying 3 times what would have originally been required.  Persistent, non-compliant vessels may also be removed from our Harbours at the owner's expense.
