CNES Offers Care Discussions

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is offering the opportunity for individuals in the Western Isles to speak 1 to 1 with current social care or training office staff about careers in the care sector.

The discussions will take place in person or over Microsoft Teams and will allow individuals interested in jobs in social care to hear first-hand what the job is really like.

These discussions will also give an opportunity for individuals to highlight their barriers to employment (Childcare, transport etc.) Through joint working with the CNES training office and human resources department solutions to overcome these barriers will be sought.

Ella Macbain, Service Manager, Residential Services, said: "There are a lot of misconceptions about working in the care sector, we want to present an open and honest view of the jobs we are advertising and for us this is best achieved through conversations with our staff.

"We are delighted to be able to involve a number of our current staff in these information sharing sessions and  I would encourage any individuals who are considering applying for a job in social care, or perhaps thinking of a career change or are out of work to get in touch and speak to us."

Careers discussions can be arranged by emailing employability@cne-siar.gov.uk or by calling into Stornoway Town Hall.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will join partner organisations in Stornoway Town Hall on 14th, 15th and 16th June to promote careers in the care sector.
