Briefings for Prospective Candidates

The Comhairle will be hosting briefing meetings for prospective candidates for the Local Government Election on 5 May 2022.  The schedule of briefing meetings is as follows:-

Thursday 17 March 2022 Council Chamber, Council Offices, Stornoway 4.30pm

Thursday 17 March 2022 Lecture Theatre, Sgoil Lionacleit, Isle of Benbecula 7.30pm

Friday 18 March 2022 Community Hall, Tarbert 12.30pm

Monday 21 March 2022 Microsoft Teams 7.30pm

The information meetings will include a presentation on the roles and responsibilities of Councillors together with an explanation of the wider election process and will cover topics such as the single transferable voting system, the nomination process, postal voting, polling and count arrangements.

Candidates wishing to join the virtual briefing on 21 March should email the Election Office elections@cne-siar.gov.uk to request a link to the briefing.
