In advance of the 2023 NatWest International Island Games, the Western Isles Island Games Association (WIIGA) will hold its Biennial General Meeting (BGM) on Tuesday 15 February 2022 at 6pm. Having been postponed in 2021 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the rescheduled Games will take place in Guernsey between 8-14 July 2023 and will feature 14 sports, with over 100 participants and team managers expected to represent the Western Isles at the 18th iteration of the Games.
WIIGA Chairman, Norrie MacDonald, said: "The past two years have been incredibly frustrating for our athletes and team managers, with training severely restricted and few opportunities to take part in competition. WIIGA and the Island Games has been a powerful driver for many over the years and it is important that we have a strong and supported committee in place as preparations begin towards Guernsey 2023."
The WIIGA BGM will provide members an opportunity to hear from the Chairman on preparations for next year's Games, as well as the election of an Executive Committee to lead on organisation. The meeting will take on Microsoft Teams and a link will be issued to members shortly, along with an agenda for the meeting. Any member that wishes to raise any business at the meeting should do so by emailing m.stone@cne-siar.gov.uk by Tuesday 1 February 2022.
