Terrorism public vigilance toolkit

Yesterday (15 November), the Prime Minister confirmed that, following the incident in Liverpool on Sunday, the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) had taken the decision to raise the UK National Threat Level from SUBSTANTIAL, meaning an attack is likely, to SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely.

Counter Terrorism Policing has made available a toolkit and communication materials to help councils with public vigilance messaging on:

  • Making the public aware of how we can all play our part in defeating terrorism
  • Increasing awareness of the signs of potential terrorist activity
  • Increasing awareness of why it's important to report something that doesn't feel right and how to report

The Home Office would appreciate councils' support in sharing these messages with the public and their wider channels.
