Trading Standards Officers at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are reminding residents in the islands that they can display "No doorstep sales" signage.
This follows a report of individuals who are claiming to be carrying out questionnaires but who are in fact salespeople .
A spokesperson, said: "Genuine representatives from trustworthy survey companies will always carry identification which they will be happy to show you so that it can be verified by contacting the business."

Sellers who disregard the doorstoppers signage may be committing an offence.
Doorstep sellers can be reported to Trading Standards on 01851 822694 or the Police on 101. (In an emergency on 999)
