Sport Facilities Update

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's Sport and Health team have been delighted to welcome back a range of indoor and outdoor activities over the last few days - these include badminton, netball and football sessions at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais and badminton, volleyball and football will shortly be recommencing at Lionacleit Sports Centre for example.

Tony Wade, Sports Facilities Services Manager, said: "This is a great step forwards on the road back to something that approaches normality. We are delighted to see the return of some of these sports after such a long break but I think it's important to mention that we are still operating with significant restrictions under Level 0. There has been some totally understandable misunderstanding and frustrations that Level 0 means no restrictions, however to ensure everyone's safety, we are still governed by guidance around social distancing, hygiene, face coverings when not taking part in activities and the requirement for additional ventilation.

"We are still not able to operate changing rooms at present and we would be very grateful if customers could remember that showering facilities on the poolside remain as 'rinse only' and not to use hair and body wash products. It is great news about the success of the vaccination roll out locally and hopefully this will help us move to relax these measures as quickly as we can, as guidance allows."
