Local Libraries Now Open for Browsing

In line with Scottish Government guidelines, the Comhairle's library service is pleased to announce that all libraries are now open for browsing.

The library branches based in Stornoway, Tarbert, Liniclate and Castlebay are only open very much reduced hours at present, but can now welcome individuals and families back into the library so people can select their own books.

People are asked to please continue to wear a face covering when visiting the library, sanitise their hands on entry and keep a 2 metre distance at all times for their own safety.

For those who may not be ready from browsing yet, libraries are still offering a Connect and Collect service.  People can either request a number of books, or leave it to library staff to select a surprise bag of books for them.

The Mobile Libraries, Lexy and Lachaidh, are visiting homes like usual and library customers can also choose whether they would like to browse the shelves or receive a drop-off bag of books to keep them going.

It is also now possible to use the computer facilities at most libraries. These must be booked in advance.

Please visit the Comhairle website to see the current library opening hours and contact details.
