Ceremony to Mark the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day

A Ceremony will be held at the Lewis War Memorial on the 15th August to mark the 75th anniversary of VJ Day. The short ceremony will start at 10:45 and will be livestreamed on the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Facebook Page.
The ceremony will last approximately thirty minutes and will include the presentation of a medallion to WWII veteran Kenny Nicolson who worked at the code breaking Station X of Bletchley Park that helped enable the British to read the Germans' Enigma code.
A wreath laying ceremony will take place after the presentation. The Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Norman A Macdonald will attend the Ceremony and lay a wreath on behalf of the local community.
