  • Leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to take part in Facebook Session on Crown Estate

    Comhairle Leader, Cllr Angus Campbell, will host a Facebook question and answer session at 7pm on Tuesday 28th February on the Scottish Government's Consultation on Crown Estate Proposals. Questions must be submitted to the page on the evening of the 28th and the Leader will answer as many of these questions as possible between 7pm and 8:30pm.   • International Women's Day Events in Back

    We have a full week of events including a Conference on Saturday 11th. The conference is suitable for women aged 14+ and includes a wide range of workshops, talks and activities. Everything is free and we would like as many people as possible to take advantage of this opportunity. 

     

  • Public Performance Reporting

    Councils have a duty under the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 to report publicly their performance in delivering their services. As from 2009/10 the Comhairle has been producing these snapshot reports in the format of Public Performance Calendars which have been circulated mainly through schools in the Outer Hebrides, but also though other media. The Public Performance Report 2015/16  is based around the Outer Hebrides Single Outcome Agreement's seven Local Outcomes.

     

  • Youth Champions Encourage 16 and 17 year olds to have their say

    Western Isles Youth Champions, Cllr Charlie Nicolson and Donnie Steele, are encouraging young voters who are eligible to vote in the upcoming Local Government Elections in May to make sure that they are registered on the Electoral Register by 17 April 2017. For the first time ever in a Local Government Election, 16 and 17 year olds will have the opportunity to vote on who should be representing their ward and their interests.   • Crofting Commission Elections – March 2017

    Postal voting packs for the four contested constituencies in the Crofting Commission Elections have been issued to electors. Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Election Office spokesperson, Mairi Sine Macdonald said: "I would urge Postal Voters to take the time to read the guidance enclosed and ensure that they have completed the ballot paper according to the instructions. Completed ballot papers must be returned in the reply paid envelope provided by 4.00pm on Thursday 16 March 2017." Image © Crofting Commission.
