OH!CON – the Outer Hebrides’ Comic Con

Comics, super-heroes, nerf tournaments, gaming and so much more.  On 29 October, the Comhairle's library service, with An Lanntair and a team of talented and shamelessly nerdy volunteers, will be hosting the Outer Hebrides' very first Comic Con.

The main celebration, aimed at families and enthusiasts of all ages, will take place in Stornoway, but the library service will also be supporting events for schools across the islands.

A whole host of activities are being planned, from comic-writing and illustration workshops and nerf tournaments to author talks and cosplay masquerades. There'll also be board games, LEGO, VR sessions and the chance for local writers and artists to come together and share their work.

Kathleen Milne, Manager of Western Isles Libraries, the Comhairle's library service, said, "Comic Cons are so entertaining and inclusive and we can't wait to host the very first OH!CON. We are looking forward to everyone coming in cosplay on the day and hope to see the streets of Stornoway filled with super-heroes, fantasy characters, science fiction villains and creatures of all kinds."

OH!CON is still looking for volunteers to join the team, so if you have a particular skill, whether it be creating comics, model-building or cosplay, or you are interested in comics, sci-fi or fantasy and would like to help, do get in touch - the team would love to hear from you!

Those interested in volunteering can email OH!CON at beammeup@ohcon.info or get in touch via the website at www.ohcon.info.
