Severe Weather Warning Issued by Met Office

The Met Office has issued a couple of yellow warnings for wind in The Western Isles. The Met Office forecasts strong winds for the Western Isles with the potential for gusts in excess of 75 mph.
Yellow Warning
A notification warning of severe weather from the Met Office is valid from 4am tomorrow, Saturday 29th January, until 3pm tomorrow afternoon.
"An area of very strong west or northwest winds will cross Scotland on Saturday morning before easing during the afternoon. The strongest winds are expected in the east of Scotland later in the morning. Gusts of widely 50-60 mph are likely with a short period of gusts in excess of 75 mph, particularly for Moray and north Aberdeenshire as well as the Lothians."
Another notification warning of severe weather from the Met Office is valid from 6pm on Sunday evening, 30th January, until midday on Monday 31st January.
"On Sunday evening a spell of strong northwesterly winds is likely to develop across western Scotland, and then progress southeastwards eventually easing away from the North Sea coastlines during Monday morning. The strongest wind gusts will mostly occur around the coastlines and over the hills, with many of these exposed locations expected to see gusts reach 50-60 mph for a time. In addition, a small chance that a very limited part of the area could see a short period of more damaging gusts, that could reach 60-70mph inland, and 70-80mph around exposed coasts and hills."

There may be adjustments made to homecare service and all those affected will be contacted directly regarding alternative arrangements.
Travel
The public are advised to travel with care and drive to the conditions. CnES Roads and Police will be monitoring all causeways.
Bus Services are liable to disruption at short notice on Saturday, 29th January. Please contact your operator for the most up-to-date service information.

Advice
The public are advised to secure any loose debris. The construction industry is advised to secure scaffolding and any lose items on building sites.
The Comhairle would ask family, neighbours and friends living nearby to assist and support elderly and vulnerable people.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is reminding members of the public to take extra care if using candles during any power cuts which occur due to winter storms. In the event of a loss of 999 services, all fire stations will be manned by emergency services.
SSE is on alert and has put in place its contingency plans to deal with any damage the storm may cause to the electricity network. Any customers who lose their electricity supply are urged to contact SSE on 105 to report damage or highlight neighbours or friends who may need extra help.
