Scottish Government’s Recycling Improvement Fund

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has been awarded funding of £784,458 from the Scottish Government's Recycling Improvement Fund to allow for the redesign of kerbside collection service to increase the quality of material collected and to roll out services to areas where kerbside recycling collections are not currently available.

In addition to this the funding will also provide a zero emissions, electric Refuse Collection Vehicle to service the collection routes in Stornoway and the surrounding areas.

Cllr Uisdean Robertson, Chairman of Transportation and Infrastructure said: "This funding will enable the Comhairle to continue to improve its recycling operations and contribute to the green agenda in the Islands."
