Comhairle Expresses Disappointment at Further Delay

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has expressed disappointment that the scheduled return of the Loch Seaforth on the Stornoway Ullapool route has been further delayed despite assurances in this week's Comhairle/CalMac meeting that the vessel was scheduled for a return on the 17th May.

Chairman of Transportation and Infrastructure, Cllr Uisdean Robertson, said:

"We now understand that the Loch Seaforth's return will be delayed beyond the previously stated date of 17th because of further engine problems. That is extremely disappointing, particularly as Cal-Mac informed us this week that the return of the Loch Seaforth was on schedule. Not only will this cause further disruption on the Stornoway Ullapool service, there will also be the consequent knock on effect to services in Uist and Barra."
