Comhairle nan Eilean Siar welcomes opinions on its work and is keen to encourage users of this site to express themselves in a clear and open manner. The primary aim of this site is to allow inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides to provide ideas and feedback to the Comhairle on an ongoing basis.  To ensure that this site functions properly, all comments are pre-moderated and as a result will not appear instantly.     Local Development Plan Consultation Underway

    The Outer Hebrides Proposed Local Development Plan (LDP) has now been published and the wider community is invited to comment on it. The Proposed Plan and associated documents forms the Comhairle's approach to the development of land in the Outer Hebrides over the next twenty years. The Comhairle is inviting communities, organisations, businesses and individuals to have their say.

    Comhairle nan Eilean Siar urges Crofters to make their voices heard

    Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is encouraging crofters to stand as candidates in the upcoming Crofting Commission elections. The commission is the regulator of the crofting system, with commissioners responsible for promoting the interests of crofting and advising Scottish ministers. Spokesperson for the Comhairle's Election Team, Mairi Sine MacDonald, said:
    "Crofting makes a vital contribution to the economy, environment and communities in Scotland's rural areas. This is an important time to ensure a strong and vibrant future for crofters, which is why it's vital to have a Crofting Commission made up of people who represent and reflect the interests and diversity of Scotland's crofting community."

    Consultation On A New Local Housing Strategy For The Outer Hebrides

    Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is developing a new Local Housing Strategy for the period 2017-2022 and wishes to gather as many views as possible on the priorities it should aim to address.

    Crofting Commission Elections 2017 Statement of Persons Nominated

    • At the close of the Nomination period for the above election, there are more than one validly nominated candidates in the under mentioned Constituencies. Consequently an election will now take place in accordance with the Crofting Commission (Elections) (Scotland) Regulations 2011 as amended. Ballot papers will be issued by post to all eligible electors in those Constituencies and must be returned in the pre-paid envelope provided by 4.00 p.m. on Thursday 16th March 2017.
