Funding For Homecoming Projects Deadline

The deadline for funding applications for Hebridean Homecoming Projects is 5pm 16th March.

Applications have been made so far for a range of activities around emigration from the Western Isles and specifically around the 100th anniversary of the historic departure of SS Metagama and SS Marloch. Over 600 people left from Stornoway and Lochboisdale to sail to new lives in Canada.

Community groups are invited to submit applications by the due date.

Convener Kenny Macleod said:"Emigration from the Islands is an integral part of our history and heritage and has a lasting legacy which continues to this day. Many community groups are organizing activities to mark these events. The Comhairle has a limited fund for Hebridean Homecoming Projects and is keen to support appropriate activities."

Applications for project funding should be made to Calum Iain Maciver, Depute Chief Executive - calum.maciver@cne-siar.gov.uk
