DYW Outer Hebrides Hosts Careers Fair

Developing the Young Workforce Outer Hebrides is hosting a careers fair for Nicolson Institute pupils tomorrow (24 February) in the Western Isles Employability Hub at Stornoway Town Hall.

DYW Outer Hebrides will be joined by partner organisations, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Skills Development Scotland and Lews Castle College UHI as well as local employers from a range of sectors.

Following the Careers Fair at 4pm the hall will be opened to parents, employers, and members of the public to engage with DYW, SDS, CNES and LCC UHI staff.

This drop-in session will provide a chance for discussion on funding, training routes, career support and local educational opportunities.

Cllr Paul Steele, Chair, Education, Sport and Children's Services "It is vital that our young people receive information on the career paths available locally when making their subject choices and planning their next steps. Over the last 2 years it has been difficult for employers to engage directly with school pupils, and it is fantastic to once more see an event of this type take place."

The event in Stornoway will be followed up by similar events in Harris, Uist and Barra.
